Brief Abbey News – July 2012

This July was very different from past months of July. We had many uninvited guests; first of all, after Independence Day, we found that the window of the trailer behind of the Gift Shop was broken. Fortunately, there was anything important or valuable in the trailer. A police officer came and filed a report about that. Another bad thing happened on 18th July there was thunderstorm in the northeast area of the U.S. It affected our phone system and now it was partially repaired. We had the St. Nicholas Guild Picnic for our Christmas Tree volunteers on July 28 as usual. However, a storm came in the afternoon during the picnic. It was first time that we had rain on the day of Nicholas Guild Picnic ever. The other welcome guests were Louise Macul, a sister of Abbot Joel (July 2 to 4), Mrs. Columba Choi from Korea (July 2 to 27), Fr. Ildefonce of Hanga Abbey (July 18 to 23), Fr. Paul Chang for his private retreat (July 17 to 19), Fr. John Choi and Mr. Francisco Yoo from Korea for the Music Retreat (July 9 to 20), Br. Hugo of Waegwan Abbey (July 12 to 27) and more and more…

From July 2 to 18, Abbot Joel went Togo to participate and congratulate Br. Romain on the occasion of his ordination to the priesthood. He studied at St. Meinrad Seminary and finished his studies last semester. And Abbot Joel went Washington, NJ for the mission collection from July 21 to 22.

Br. Bernardo Lee

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ and manifests through us the odor of the knowledge of him in every place. For we are the aroma of Christ for God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to the latter an odor of death that leads to death, to the former an odor of life that leads to life. Who is qualified for this? For we are not like the many who trade on the word of God; but as out of sincerity, indeed as from God and in the presence of God, we speak in Christ.

2 Corinthians 2,14-17
